When the last thing you want to be is you…

For me, thoughts that hurt to think are still fun to write about. That’s the theme for my blog this year, and I sort of hope the reason you’re stopping by is because you have been enjoying them so much. A lot of the knowledge that we all live with can be a little mind-bending, but that doesn’t mean critical thinking should be tossed out just to keep it straight.

I don’t just blog, though; I write books, too. My favorite question of all time, since I first learned what a question was, has always been ‘what if…?’ Those two words can start off infinite endings, with even more questions arising from each answer. Sometimes these thought experiments can teach us things in a way that talking about the real world can’t, and sometimes it takes a while to spell them out properly. Books have always meant a great deal to me; now that I write them, they mean even more. I’ve been known to go on and on about where my ideas come from and how I view my characters, but that’s not what we’re here for.

Today I want to talk about the book I have just completed.

This year I have been sharing a new book with my newsletter subscribers one chapter at a time. It’s a bit of a departure from my past works, if we’re talking genre…but it is really just another example of me exploring the deeper meaning of some ‘what if’ that my mind threw at me. What if there was a conflict between two peoples, far off in another galaxy, that could only be solved by someone from Earth? These aliens may have technology that can contain and transport active consciousness, and that’s all they really need to get an Earth mind into their midst.

Dreaming the Perpetual Dream is one man’s attempt to leave behind mediocrity on Earth to become a hero in deep space. Link finds purpose in his dreams, after he had given up looking for it in real life. When he takes a pill at night that he is supposed to take during the day, something very strange happens. Link finds himself in another man’s body, on a ship in deep space, looking out from eyes that burn with hatred. He must find an ally, thwart The Admiral’s plan, and save the fleet…all while still living his own life during the day.

The book is done, but it doesn’t release for some time. So, why am I writing this blog about it? Because this is your chance to read it for free! From now until publication date, all you need to do is sign up for The Secret Society of Deeper Meaning and you can read the whole book!

And that’s not all!

Right now, it’s pilot season over at The Secret Society of Deeper Meaning. I’ve put up descriptions of four books on a secret page, which is not secret to secret society members. Joining up will also give you the opportunity to vote on which book I share next. Hurry, though! Voting is only open for a limited time! Then, it’s on to the free chapters…and if you don’t vote, you lose the chance to make sure they’re the ones you want to read most!

All right, I’m done. Last chance.
