I’m writing this to announce the release of my new book, “Walking Between Worlds; Book II: Rise of the Walker King”. It is available in print and ebook format as of today, August 4th. Hooray!
That’s not all I want to write about today, however; any more than you should read this book without reading the first one. This book is part of a trilogy, and an important aspect of writing a trilogy to me is completing it in a timely fashion. At first that meant a book a year, giving us time to live a balanced life in our first few years running a publishing company.
Then we looked at our schedule and decided to just put everything off except this trilogy. So now, the second book is available four months earlier than we had originally planned. Hooray! I’m somewhere between a third and halfway done writing “Walking Between Worlds; Book III: Fall of the Walker King”, and we plan to release it December 1st of this year. Hooray! Dawn and I have both found our grooves with writing and editing and publishing, and it’s exciting to watch the machine work so smoothly. Hooray! Again!
On the other hand, my shop still looks pretty much exactly the same as it did when we moved in eight months ago. The garden only got partially built, and only survived thanks to Dawn and drip tubing. Unfortunately, the weeds are as healthy as the tomatoes and squash and onions. I did throw up a little bamboo tiki hut, but it looks like the castaways got rescued before night fell and abandoned it.
None of that matters, though, and here’s why: this trilogy will be done by the end of the year. Hooray! The whole story will be available in ebook and print, and neither you nor I will have to wait for anything. Well . . . there will be more books, and we do have to wait for them, but . . . well, you know what I mean.
While you are waiting, between now and the end of the year, there will be another opportunity for us to “Walk Between Worlds” briefly together. Sudden Insight Publishing is putting together an anthology set to release in the next couple of months. The theme is short stories that relate to a book or series currently in print; it’s a way to expose readers to more authors, and to give an extra peek into the written worlds we know and love.
The profits from this anthology will go to the SPCA, as thanks for bringing us an angel and to help them continue dispensing love and life and compassion.
My contribution to the anthology will be a prequel, a look at the events that led to everything that happens in this story. There are no spoilers in it, although it is meant to be read in time with it’s release between Book I and Book II. If you’re not sure about diving into this trilogy, this is a good way to get a sample of what it will be like while meeting some other great authors.
Anyone reading this (or anyone, really) is in one of two categories here: either you have read the first book or you haven’t. For those of you who haven’t, you may skip the next paragraph. For those of you who have, read on:
In Book I, Paul is given a key that opens the door to a whole new world and a strange new life. The fellow that gives him the key is more mystery than man, and as we learn more about him the mystery deepens. Why are his clothes damaged and burnt when he changes Paul? Why does he apologize for the way Paul was turned? Why does he refuse to continue as a Walker, when the Walker world needs someone like him more than ever? These questions and more get answered in the short story I am contributing to the anthology.
Welcome back, those of you who have not read Book I. If you have been waiting for the perfect opportunity, and you like ebooks, the first installment of this trilogy is on sale in ebook format for only ninety-nine cents for a limited time. If you have read Book I, you have my sincere gratitude. It has been a special honor to see this story touch people’s lives, and to feel uplifted by comments and reviews and appreciation as I was touched back. Writing has always been a big part of who I am; sharing has opened me up and filled me up in ways I never could have foreseen. Whatever parts of this journey you have shared with me, I thank you for . . . it is a sacred privilege to write for you.
Is the drum roll still going? Let’s end it with a resounding cymbal crash. Thanks for reading, and please buy my new release. As always, orders made through www.JayNorry.com can request a custom dedication and/or a signed copy at no extra charge. If you want to help even more, please post a review on Amazon or Goodreads. The journey continues, and I’m glad you’re here with me.
